Subversive alterna-conf stuff

Subversive alterna-conf stuff

Many of us think the ID profession is in trouble - either by its own hand, or due to an inability to push back when asked to 'build me a course; quick!' (See the ongoing talk.) In response, we would like to develop a message, or series of messages, that can be delivered at any conference we might present at. This space will be for collaborative development of these messages.

Objective:

To bring focus back to the A, D, & E in ADDIE (not that ADDIE is a perfect model).

To get business people to understand the importance of effective instruction, not just the cost savings found in rapid development.

To get away from short sighted decision making, and focus on longer term implications of T&D related decisions.

Audience:

Those with the ability to change things: CLO, T&D Director, training manager

Grassroots? IDs, developers, instructors

Key Message:

Arguments & Data that Support the message:

Arguments & Data the Refute the message:

Discussion

my question is, are we just concerned with doing better learning design (and I'm behind that), or are we trying to move them much further?
Can we move further without considering better learning design? Just asking... I mean we can do something that's different that moves people -- it doesn't mean we're moving them somewhere meaningful unless change, in and of itself, is valued over staying where they are.
