Welcome
Black Swans, by definition are disruptive. We don't always agree with each other - indeed we shouldn't, if we want true discussion. But we love to engage in healthy debate and always do our best for our learners. We love PROGRESS.
The best part: as a quasi-secret society, we get to hang out with people who understand our motivations and our passions.
Some areas are open to non-members. We invite you to look around. If you think the Black Swan Society is a good fit for your active membership, take a second to complete the questions and post a representative avatar in the membership request. Let us know how you found out about us.
Active membership includes posting and/or commenting at least once a week. There are lots of ways to do this, as this community has blogs, wikis, member pages and discussion boards.

Those of you who are Facebook friends will know that I lost something during my recent holiday. It was something of no intrinsic value, and yet I treasured it enormously. It was something that has been featured on this blog before. It was the bangle my f [...]

On our weekly twitter learning fest, #lrnchat, I regularly identify myself as a learning experience design strategist. I don’t always assume people know what that means, but for that audience I figure they can infer what it means. However, I [...]

Just a quick post to thank everyone who attended our first official Tandem Learning Innovation Community event. We hosted the event on our new Second Life island and I'd encourage all of you who were unable to make it to stop by any time and take a tou [...]

In all the excitement about empowering learners by providing rich information and social environments, it’s too easy to think that “if you build it, they will learn”. Yet the evidence is to the contrary. While there are numerous components, in [...]

In reflecting on the presentation I gave earlier this week, I realize that I didn’t make it clear that just making it social will make activities lead to better processing. Of course, my goal was evangelizing, but I reckon I should followup with s [...]

Another Twitter conversation, another blog post...another thought-stream based out of ADL's Implementation Fest #ifest (Srsly, this is the most a conference has inspired me to write in a long time. A good, and bad, thing...). So, let's talk about the opp [...]
